Synopsis

Aiden’s stuck working for his family’s amusement park, Funtastic World, for the whole summer. Nothing amuses him, until he met this terrified girl.
Gemma’s stuck in Funtastic World thinking she could handle the park’s rides. She couldn’t. Good thing she met someone to guide her.
As the day comes to a close, Aiden and Gemma ask themselves if one day is ever enough to decide if they were better off as friends or strangers.

Dawn Lanuza easily became one of my favorite authors as soon as I read her first book, The Boyfriend Backtrack. Her writing style is unique and mellifluent which makes it really easy to get into her books.

This story started really great. We’re presented with two characters, both complex but easy to relate to. Aiden was sort of forced to work for his family’s amusement park, while Gemma was having a dilemma with trying out the park rides. Of course they meet and spend the rest of the day together, with Aiden persuading Gemma with the rides and Gemma making Aiden see new things from other people’s perspective.

“She had that many literary heroes for one obvious reason: she’s a reader, not a doer. She’s lived all of her life vicariously through fiction.”

It was really enjoyable to see a great story unfold in a span of seven chapters. Naturally, I breezed through the pages and finished the book in hours. Given that it’s a short story, I sort of expected an insta-love to happen but it didn’t. The attraction between Gemma and Aiden was slow-burned and it was a delight to read.

Even if this book only lasted for several chapters, it was still a treat because I do love 24-hour love stories. Well, this was more of a strangers-friends-lovers kind of thing which I adore as well.

Overall, I really love this book. I guess this has become a new favorite of mine. It’s super cute and adorable and I love the overall vibe of this book. Also the cover is to die for! I really dig this book!

As part of our 2nd Blogoversary Celebration, we are featuring Dawn for an interview this month. Watch out for it in the next few days!
